Alison Bartfield, MDHospitalist
Dr. Alison Bartfield serves as the lead hospitalist for the Baptist Beaches Hospitalist Program and has been caring for area residents for the past 10 years.
Dr. Bartfield received her medical degree from the University of Florida's College of Medicine where she also completed her internal medicine residency program. She is board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Bartfield is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and has been published in numerous publications, including the American Journal of Medical Science, Bone Marrow Transplantation and Somatic Cell and Molecular Genetics.
While serving as a clinical assistant professor on the University of Florida's College of Medicine faculty, Dr. Bartfield founded a hospitalist program for the university. She then went on to work with Kaiser Permanente's Hospitalist Program in Roseville, California, and Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland.
"Hospitalists serve as the patient's primary care physician while they are in the hospital so their care is coordinated through one physician," explained Dr. Bartfield. "We work very closely with the patient, his or her family, the patient's primary care physician and any other specialist who may be part of their treatment plan so everyone knows and understands what the care plan is."
Dr. Bartfield is known for her passion to empower her patients to pursue healthier, proactive lifestyles so they live long healthy lives. She spends much of her time giving lectures around the community about ways individuals can engage in healthier lifestyles, osteoporosis prevention and preventative medicine.
"I love what I do because it gives me an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life and I can use my love and knowledge for science," said Dr. Bartfield.
When Dr. Bartfield isn't busy caring for her patients, she enjoys running and spending time with her husband and three children.
