Paulette Marshall Emergency Department Director
It was 23 years ago when Paulette Marshall first visited Baptist Beaches. Her husband had been transferred to the area for work, and she thought the hospital would be a great place to apply for a nursing position. But, it was shortly after that first step in the door that she knew she had found something special.
“I was amazed when I walked in the lobby, because everyone was so welcoming,” Paulette said. “They stopped what they were doing and showed me around the facility. I’ve never had such a warm welcome before. I felt like I was part of the family right away.”
After joining the Baptist team, Paulette spent 10 years as a Critical Care/Progressive Care Clinical Director. She then advanced to Director of Emergency Department overseeing CCU and Pharmacy for 2 years followed by a promotion to Director of Emergency Services overseeing Respiratory Therapy and Cardiac Services. In her current role as Director of Emergency Services, she oversees the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Center which serves more than 34,000 patients a year, and she works to ensure excellent care and responsiveness, as well as the same compassionate spirit that impressed her so many years ago.
“For me, I’m continually impressed by the way everyone works together with such mutual respect,” she said. “There’s a great camaraderie here, and it is reflected in the care that’s given.”
Though friendly faces are what drew her to the hospital initially, she knows Baptist Beaches’ success is more than just the result of welcoming employees. She attributes it to focus, drive and advanced care, matched with the warmth that only a community hospital can possess.
